Refurbished Gaming Systems - Do we sell them and what to watch out for.

One of the most common questions we get asked here at Black Barn Computers is do we sell refurbished gaming PC systems. That is often a tough question to answer as there is no straightforward response. Gaming systems come in many shapes and forms, and it entirely depends on the type of games you are playing as to what is required from the system. Many people want to play more basic games, such as Roblox, Minecraft and Fortnite. These games are fairly low in the demands they make from a PC/laptop system and therefore many of the systems we sell will be able to play these games, either in their standard trim or with the addition of a low-end graphics card.  However, many people when referring to gaming systems will be looking to play more high end, demanding games, the type of which really push a PC system to its limits. If you are looking to play the latest COD game or run the newest version of MS Flight Simulator, a simple PC with a basic graphics card is simply not going to cut the mustard! For this level of gaming, we would always recommend seeking out or building a new PC system with up to date specs and components which are specifically tailored to allow for the best gaming experience.  We do occasionally get these systems come in as second hand units and they appear under our Gaming Systems label so please keep an eye on our website for these.

One thing we have noticed recently is that many sellers are taking old PC systems parts, putting them into a new case and selling them as new Gaming Systems.  A quick search online reveals one firm selling 2nd and 6th Generation Intel I5 and I7 systems as new gaming systems. When you consider that we are now onto the 14th Generation of Intel I series processors (a new version being released every year), it shows how old these systems are. We always recommend that sellers ask what generation of Intel processors are being used in a 'new' gaming PC system. It is not enough for a seller to simply state that a system has an I7 processor - the generation of that processor is the most important aspect. It also crucially important to have a check online to see what system level requirements are needed to play a particular game. Every game will have a different level of requirement and it is important that you match you PC system to this. Often, these recommendations are split into two categories - Minimum and Recommended. Minimum will allow you to run the game at its most basic level whereas Recommended tends to give you the complete gaming experience in terms of the visual side of things.

As always, if you have any questions relating to our systems or their capability in terms of running particular games, please feel free to contact us for honest advice.
